Jazeera Airways continues Europe expansion with Luton flights

Kuwaiti airline Jazeera Airways has launched direct flights from Kuwait International Airport to London Luton Airport.

The London route will be the airline’s longest flight, operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft and with a travel time of 7 hours, the Kuwait-listed low-cost carrier said in a statement.

The addition of London Luton is part of Jazeera Airways’ European network expansion and follows the launch of flights to Milan Bergamo.

The latest service will begin with four weekly flights on July 8, increasing to daily flights from August 1.

This month, Jazeera Airways reported a net loss of KD1 million ($4 million) between January and March, compared to a net profit of KD4.7 million in the same period last year.

Kuwait International was shut for 57 days, the longest closure of any airport in the region. Kuwait closed its airspace on February 28 following the US-Israel attack on Iran. An Iranian drone hit the airport’s radar system on March 15.

Founded in 2004, Jazeera Airways’s major shareholders are the Boodai Group and Jassim Mohammad Al Mousa General Trading.

The airline’s shares closed 0.5 percent lower at KD1,770 on Monday.
