Anthropic has finalized an arrangement with SpaceXAI to utilize Colossus 1, an advanced artificial intelligence supercomputer, providing the organization behind Claude with substantial computing infrastructure expansion.

SpaceXAI, which was previously operating as xAI and developed the Grok conversational AI, completed its merger with SpaceX during the current year. Elon Musk oversees the unified entity, while simultaneously directing Tesla operations.

The partnership delivers Anthropic access to an excess of 220,000 Nvidia graphics processing units along with more than 300 megawatts of fresh computing capacity scheduled for deployment within the next month.

Anthropic intends to leverage this expanded infrastructure to increase service capacity for Claude platform subscribers. Users enrolled in Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscription tiers will experience a doubling of Claude Code’s five-hour usage thresholds.

Additionally, the organization is eliminating the peak-hour limitation reductions previously applied to Claude Code for Pro and Max subscription holders. Application programming interface restrictions for Opus model variants will similarly be raised.

Wells Fargo financial analysts indicated the arrangement may enhance Anthropic’s revenue performance. The firm’s research team highlighted that Anthropic’s annualized revenue recently climbed to $44 billion, representing growth from $30 billion recorded at April’s conclusion and $14 billion measured in February.

Explosive Expansion Led to Service Disruptions

Dario Amodei, serving as Anthropic’s chief executive officer, issued an apology earlier this week following service interruptions that affected users throughout the company’s model lineup.

During remarks at Anthropic’s developer-focused conference, Amodei revealed that revenue expanded by a factor of 80 during the opening quarter of 2025. He explained that organizational planning had anticipated only 10-fold expansion.

Strategic Infrastructure Expansion Efforts

The SpaceXAI arrangement represents one component within a broader series of infrastructure initiatives Anthropic has pursued in recent months.

The organization executed an agreement with Amazon to obtain up to 5 gigawatts of computing capacity. The initial gigawatt from this partnership is projected to become operational before 2026 concludes.

Anthropic has also established agreements with Google and Broadcom for computing resources scheduled to activate in 2027. A collaborative arrangement with Microsoft and Nvidia exists to obtain capacity through the Azure platform.

An investment partnership with Fluidstack is additionally active to support continued development of artificial intelligence infrastructure across the United States.

The Colossus 1 arrangement with SpaceXAI stands as the most rapidly deployable among these agreements, with GPU access anticipated to commence within the month.
