MONSTA X “baby blue”

K-pop superstars MONSTA X have released their new English single, “baby blue” – and it’s so different from what they’ve done before!
This new single welcomes a fresh new era for MONSTA X – composed of members Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M – as they celebrated a decade together this past May, and with all of them nearly in their 30s. The song is mellow, featuring soft R&B harmonies, electronic synths, and smooth tempos. The lyrics evoke nostalgia and memories of love and loss, as well as the struggle to hold onto something that is no longer there. The line, “You dance like I remember, baby blue,” encapsulates the warmth and quiet ache of a love now past. In the song, the color blue represents both sadness and renewal.
Contrasting their previous English single, “Do What I Want,” which was an intense, upbeat hip-hop track that embodied confidence and passion, “baby blue” showcases their mature side and ability to incorporate electronic dance elements.
The music video takes a dark, moody cinematic turn, filled with emotional storytelling about the group’s transformation and rebirth, featuring fragmented blue lights and symbolic imagery. As MONSTA X enters this new decade, they plan to continue “their musical journey together, evolving, learning, and growing” with their music and styles.
An all-English track is not new for the group. They have released two English studio albums – All About Luv (2020) and The Dreaming (2021) – and many of their Korean songs have English versions, showcasing their global reach and strong ability to adapt to the English language. There is no word on whether their next project will be entirely in English. (Although they did previously say they were interested in doing other languages as well.)

It features the group’s 10th anniversary concert at the KSPO Dome in Seoul, as well as behind-the-scenes footage and interviews.
